NEW SIGNING

Argyle midfielder Lee Hodges is the latest man to put pen to paper for the new-look Gulls squad.
The 34-year-old left-sided player, who can also play at the back, made 30 appearances in the Championship for Argyle last season, and his career has also taken him to Spurs, Reading, Wycombe and Barnet.
Bucks says he's a 'massive signing'.

BITS AND PIECES

  • Alex Russell is unlikely to return to Plainmoor. Aggy is a transfer target for all sorts of clubs since being released by Bristol City, but is likely to stay at League One level, which would also rule him out of a move to a certain other Devon team...It's all in Thursday's Herald Express and at www.thisissouthdevon.co.uk
  • Matt Hockley has signed for Truro City, joining the ambitious Cornish club's squad for their first tilt at the Southern League.
  • An interesting report coming from the south-east suggests that Ebbsfleet's Wembley hero Chris McPhee, a former Gull of course, will not be signing for the Fleet for the coming season, preferring a move back to Devon, where he has strong family commitments. Interesting indeed...
  • Former Plainmoor favourite Dean Edwards, manager of Unibond Premier outfit Hednesford Town, has appointed another ex-Gulls star as his number two. Matt Elliott, who played for Cyril Knowles in the late Eighties before moving on to Scunthorpe, Oxford, Leicester and Scotland, is Deano's new right-hand-man.
  • Kevin Hill's Wembley Trophy final shirt is to be auctioned for charidee. Full details over at www.torquayunited.com

TWO ON THE LIST

Simon Rayner and Chris Robertson have been placed on the transfer list.

A transfer fee will be asked for centre-half Robertson, but Rayner will be available for free.

Crawley have already expressed an interest in Canadian-born Rayner, and it is understood a number of clubs are also interested in Robertson.

Elsewhere in the BSP a number of players are on the move, among them Lee Boylan (Cambridge to Stevenage); Iyesden Christie (Kidderminster to Stevenage), Jefferson Louis (Mansfield to Wrexham) and, at last, FGR striker Stuart Fleetwood, who looks set for a £100,000 move to Charlton Athletic.

Swindon Town have have signed former Gulls defender Kevin Amankwaah to a two-year contract.
Fewer games and more cash - that's the deal for BSP clubs from Setanta next season. Should mean a bit less mucking around with the fixtures, and that's got to be good news.
And there are also moves to change the BSP's wage capping rules.

Was it just me, or did anyone else think a decent on-form Gulls side could have taken the Swiss on Saturday night?
They were awful.
